If you are a industry person and you need to identify real performers that will blow away your production. These are top six irrefutable perceptions.
1. You believe that casting directors are your enemy!
For some reason you think that casting directors want to see people fail, well the complete opposite is in effect. The amount of the same people or auditions that are seen which interpret the work exactly the same is basically in the larger number. CD's want your work to pass, if you believe in yourself they will believe in you!
2. You are over protective of your content!
Waiting to put out the best content is not possible unless people know you are really into doing it. This will just make your content out dated and you will be too old for the genre of product you were putting out. This also shows that you do not believe in yourself, because the truth is people will love you for being you, and this also indicates that you are not being you or making any project better just becaue it does not have A list potential. Be Humble!
3. Jealousy and Competition?
The truth is jelous and compeitive people are insecure while having limited skill or talent! Competing with others or being jealous is a sign that you are not mean to be doing this and probably should consider your choices because if one cannot learn to re-innovate themselves as David Bowie said to me once while sitting in the trailer during the shoot of Valentines Day, well then you are always going to be doing everything "but" developing yourself, which is the solution ultimately.
4. Learning constantly?
As a person if you are not learning constantly you will be limited, being just an actor and isolated to it will not enrich you in being a human first who delivers the performances due to their understanding of life and not performances of impressions or superficial relating.
5. Afraid of what people think?
This is the harsh truth but those in the industry know that if you are afraid of what people think you are definitely not going to succeed long term. The risk an agent is taking is huge for long term consideration. Besides it also means you can't grow personally, and you get offended easy which means you cannot pass the internal hurdles needed to get better. So you will be stuck to repeating the same patterns and your performances will also lack substance.
6. This is the most important, you are too affected by time and the need to succeed within a certain amount fo time. Although urgency is important be careful not to conflate that with the fear of time. If you are not constantly doing and time is a factor in your life you will always fragment and be partial in everythign you do, this is true for all doing in anything. So always be doing, not thinking about time or time will pass YOU by.
